How long does the program last?


The length of time and the cost of the program also depends on what stage of change you are in.

Stages of change

Pre-Contemplation (I don’t have a problem that needs changing)

Contemplation (I have a problem but I am not ready to do anything about it)

Preparation ( I know I have a problem but I am not sure how to be successful changing)

Action (I am making some changes but I need help to achieve my goal)

Maintenance (I have achieved my goal but I need help keeping it going)

bullet

Relapse (I have slipped back into old behaviors and need help getting started again)

bullet

Termination (I have achieved my goal and can go on from here alone)
 

Your stage of change will determine some of the intensity and techniques used in your treatment. Remember you can start and stop at any point you want.

 Typical Stages of Treatment

  1. The IAAPC

  2. Stopping (this can be done through the use of medication, social support, will power, acupuncture or any number of methods that you elect to use)

  3. Relapsing

  4. Trying to stop again but with new insights and methods

  5. Getting comfortable with stopping

  6. Understanding the origins of the problem(s) that lead to the addiction.

  7. Reformulating and rebalancing of life and life’s priorities

  8. Relapsing

  9. Trying to stop again but with new insights and methods

  10. Termination

    Remember you can start and stop when ever you decide!
