What are the differences between the SAT and BRT?

SAT

BRT

Abstinence Goal Moderation or reduction goal
Emphasis on skills that help you stop and stay stopped Emphasis on developing skills that help you reduce the harm done by a particular behavior
Strategies to help you resolve the ambivalence of attaining and sustain abstinence Strategies to help you know how-much-is-too-much for you and to how to get comfortable with the middle ground
Success is measured by number of completely abstinence days not only the number of consecutive days Success is measure by increased overall life function or the acceptance that abstinence is right for you (when BRT is not working)
Abstinence can be achieved either by measuring step-by-step progress or the dramatic elimination of the destructive behavior Reduction can be best achieved though making small steps that add up to large ones
